Whitney Smith

Hello My Name Is...

Whitney Smith
7th and 8th Grade Student Services

Welcome to Spring Hill Middle School! My name is Whitney Smith and I am currently a Special Education teacher working with both 7th and 8th grade Mavericks. Previously, I taught for seven years in Missouri, as a Special Education teacher. I received my undergraduate degree from Central Missouri. Upon my first year teaching, I decided to further invest in my education, and received my Master’s in Secondary Administration from William Woods University. I am so excited to be on this new journey and have the opportunity to join wonderful teaching staff!

During the school year, your Maverick will be working on remediation for their Individualized Education Plan goals, curriculum assistance, self-advocacy skills, and executive skills to prepare them for life after middle school. A wonderful aspect of having your Maverick in my class, is that the curriculum is flexible. This enables us to work on concepts as your student is being introduced to them. We are also able to adjust lessons to prepare for any new concepts or re-teaching that arises. I look forward to working as a collaborative team to ensure our Mavericks are prepared and successful for what lies ahead for each of them! I encourage you to reach out to me during the school year with any questions or concerns. Let’s have a great year!
