WELCOME! I am looking forward to a fantastic year with you. We will explore many scientific concepts this year, both through reading and through hands-on activities. My goal is to provide you with the tools you need to gain an understanding of these concepts in a way that can shape how you see the world. In case you haven't noticed, I LOVE science and enjoy sharing my passion for it as well as my passion for learning in general. In middle school, each
day comes with many new opportunities for students to learn and grow. My most important goal for my students is for them to recognize and celebrate their individual talents and accomplishments, both big and small, and to become lifelong learners.
In addition to teaching science, I coach our 7th and 8th grade Scholars Bowl teams here at SHMS. If you love trivia and thrive on competition, come see me! I would love for you to join one of our teams. It's a great way to connect with other students outside of the regular classroom. We practice after school and attend several local tournaments during the middle portion of the school year.

My Teaching Background...I was fortunate to begin teaching in the Spring Hill School District in August of 2019. Upon joining the staff at Spring Hill Middle School, I brought with me the unique experience of having taught STEM at Paola Middle School and Science in the Kansas City Kansas School District.
I can't wait to see what this next school year brings! Amy Brownlee brownleea@usd230.org 913-592-7303
