Intro to STEM (No prerequisite)

In this course students will use the Engineering Design Process to learn about problem solving in different science, technology and mathematical fields. This introductory class will equip students with the skills they will need in future STEM courses.  Students will explore concepts and skills through various modules. The course will conclude with students working on a project that utilizes the concepts and skills the have learned during the course. Students will understand circuits and motors and their uses in design, learn to use various fabrication tools such as the 3D printer, subtractive fabrication machine, and woodworking tools.



STEM: Renewable Revolution (7/8th Grade) (prerequisite Intro to STEM)


In Renewable Revolution students will explore the environmental challenges facing our society.  Students will study climate change, waste management, food production, and energy generation. Students will be tasked with turning trash into useful items.  Students will investigate energy production and design and build their own solar, wind, or hydroelectric energy generator. Students will also design, build, and maintain their own aquaponics systems complete with their very own plants and fish.  Along with this course, students will be producing a weekly podcast called in which students raise awareness about environmental issues of their choosing.
